Receipt-Book, 18th century

Collection of medical receipts, with a few cookery receipts: by several hands. A receipt 'for the Goute in the Stomach' on the verso of the 16th leaf is said to be 'Taken out of the General Evening Post Feb'y 22nd 1753'.

1 volume 25 [26] ll. 4to. 20 × 16 cm. Paper covers, the upper cover with a humorous engraving of 'Poor Crispin's last shift'. The third leaf from the end has been cut out.

Purchased 1931.
