About this work

Description

Correspondence. Crick acted as chairman of a symposium on 'Biological replication' and gave an informal talk at the luncheon on the opening day of the Society meeting, 14 February, 1962, Washington DC. "I would hope you would talk for 30 or 40 minutes on biological replication, perhaps, or on some aspects of this as reflected in your own recent research..." (letter to Crick, 30 November, 1961).

In accepting the invitation, Crick wrote (9 October, 1961): "We now have convincing genetic evidence that the coding ratio is 3 or a multiple of 3. It is not clear that we can prove that it is 3 rather than 6, but we are trying."
