About this work

Description

Correspondence with Dr Harold M Proshansky, together with a number of copied letters and papers, following the publication of a statement in American Psychologist (July, 1972), to which Crick was a signatory, entitled "Resolution on Scientific Freedom Regarding Human Behaviour and Heredity". The signatories included Arthur Jensen and David Rosenthal. The file includes a flyer (mimeograph) headed "Nobel Prize Winner Crick Backs Jensen's Racist Theories" (dated, in Crick's hand, 26 February, 1973) produced to co-incide with a Crick lecture, with the objective of persuading him to retract his signature. (On the date Crick has recorded, he gave a seminar at the University of Washington, Seattle.) The file does not include the original "Resolution" but does include a subsequent amended "Resolution" issued by Atam Vetta, Oxford Polytechnic (sent 3 December, 1972).
