About this work

Description

Many sheets of notes (holograph) recording Crick's repeated attempts to read (or 'break') the genetic code, employing a number of de-coding strategies. [1953-1954] Included within the loose sheets - left as found - is a reprinted paper: K Bailey, "Some features of the amino-acid composition of proteins," Chemistry and Industry (1950), 243-5. Note: the order of the sheets (most of which are not numbered) is as found. Where sheets are fastened with a brass paper-clip, there was a (rusting) original paperclip.
