Segment 1 The membrane of the white of the eye is incised and is cut in a circle around the cornea. The cornea is removed. A mass of bony choroid is in the eyeball. It is removed. The cavity is cleaned. The optic nerve head is found and severed. The sclera cavity is cleaned in preparation for the insertion of a gold ball. Segment 2 The intertitles explain that the gold ball is too large for this particular cavity. So, 'a smaller ball not being at hand, an impromptu one of dental wax is inserted'.
