Description
Poster advertising "Admiral Tom Trump" ( the stage name of Jan or Jean - Hannema, born in Franeker, Friesland, Holland, in 1839). Trump was promoted as the smallest man in the world with a height of 26 inches and a weight of 26 pounds. He could also speak five languages fluently. He toured Europe, visiting all the royal courts, imitating Tom Thumb, until his retirement and died in 1878. The poster also exists with details of Trump's name and appearance at the Royal North Woolwich Gardens and Theatre in East London in August 1875 overprinted at the top and bottom of the poster.
