A plague of livestock was one of the Plagues of Egypt described in the Bible (Book of Exodus). The Egyptians had enslaved the Jews, and God sent ten plagues in succession against the Egyptians to persuade them to release the Jews. Livestock or cattle plague was the fifth. The Jews were spared in all but one of the plagues. After the tenth plague, the Egyptian Pharaoh agreed to let the Jews go. Their departure from Egypt was the "Exodus" described in the Old Testament book of that name
