The Archives and Manuscripts Collection holds the papers of several individuals and organisations who worked on the medical use and effects of X-ray radiation. There are also many clinical photographs of patients among the case notes and papers of medical practitioners and medical societies.

Go ask Alice
Archivist Lesley Hall writes about the Alice Mary Stewart archive, which includes papers relating to her pioneering work on the effects of low-dose radiation from the 1950s-1990s. From the Wellcome Library blog.
British Thoracic Society archive
The Society brought together respiratory physicians, surgeons, anaesthetists, radiologists and pathologists. Its archive contains material relating to a mass radiography programme for tuberculosis in the UK, from the 1940s-60s. Full catalogue description of the archive.
Frederick Parkes Weber papers
This is a collection of major importance: Parkes Weber had a very active life during a period of unprecedented developments in medicine. A specialist in rare diseases, Parkes Weber wrote well over 1000 articles. Clinical photographs are scattered throughout his medical notes and case material files, including a hemiatrophy case file of X-ray plates and photos from 1922. Donald Hunter papers
Hunter compiled case notes with photographs on over 80 occupational diseases, from 1905-1968. Full catalogue descripiton of the archive.
Health Visitors' Association archive
The Health Visitors' Association archive contains photographs of health visitors at work with patients, from the 1930s-1960s, as well as photographs and slides of mothers and babies at clinics in the West Indies, Hong Kong and Nigeria. Full catalogue descripiton of the archive.
